Oh god, It is 5 am. Why these birds are creating so much noise on the windows. Oh god, this chirping sound is disturbing our sleep.

I opened the window in a very annoying gesture, but as I opened the window, Here was a very lovely chick of a sparrow. All my anger vanished and my emotions get filled with Love. Yes, Love for the little chick, whose nest was damaged by the gang of cruel crows. I look for the mom sparrow and but could not find anywhere. I just picked up the little one and bring inside my room and kept the little chick on my table.I sat in my bed thinking what next . what to do with this little one.  Shall I keep outside in veranda? what shall happen? I got a cup of tea for myself and little one seems tired and resting. Now the issue arises who will take care of this little guest during the day. Finally, I thought to keep the little chick on my terrace. There was a small terrace garden. I was growing some vegetables there. Sometimes some monkeys used to come and destroy the vegetables. I had made a small iron cage there around that garden. I got an idea to keep that little guest inside that cage. I got a basket with some cloth bedding and put the chick in that. I placed some rice inside that and kept the basket inside the cage. I was not sure if this chick shall survive. I was very tired by going up and down to the terrace with my weight, my knee giving trouble, as usual, It's so painful to climb stairs. Somehow I managed, So finally I left for my office around 9am. almost 1 hour late. the whole day I was worried about chick and I rushed back to the house in the evening. I was worried about climbing those stairs again. How the hell I am going to do that. I thought to tell Vinesh ( my husband ) again to change the house with these thoughts going through my mind, I reached home. I just throw my bag and started climbing stairs. Oh god, my legs were just not ready to climb stairs. How to climb these 4 floors though came to my mind to skip this. Let's see in the morning. I sat on the stairs for a while to rest but my mind couldn't be at rest. I just wanted to see the little chick somehow. So finally I decided to climb those stairs slowly. it took me over 30 minutes.Finally, I reached terrace …. "DARCY" (The chick) looks dead. I was so worried, I got the chick out the touched. there he was, still breathing slowly. I was so relieved. I brought her down with me and kept her near my bed all night. I tried to feed her some rice and water. now, this has become a daily routine. by the end of the week, I was so tired and my legs knees were hurting like anything. Now the chick also came to life. I was so much in love with that chick. After one week I saw a couple of more sparrows in that cage. I really do not know how did they come to enter the cage. By the end of the month, there were over 10 sparrows. I just fell in love with them. But now this climbing of stairs every day was taking its toll and creating havoc on my health.One day one of my neighbors Mrs. Arya came to see me. She is a very nice lady. When she saw my condition, she got very worried. I was in deep pain in my knees. She advised me not to climb stairs. But I insisted that I am not able to sleep properly if I do not see my sparrows at least 4 times a day. Then she suggested Fixing a Lift in the house. there was no space inside the house. She said her nephew is in the elevator business and I shall call him. So next Sunday this Mr. Elevator came along with Mrs. Arya. I was told that he is an expert to provide Home Lifts. He surveyed my house. There was some space between my stairs of about 2.5 feet to 3 feet. He said lets put a Small Lift here. I was very surprised, how can a Lift be fitted in such a small space. Mr. Elevator said yes it's possible.My husband was also very surprised. he could not believe this.We talked about this. Mr elevator was quite confident that it can be done.We asked for a formal quote. he promised to send us the quote in the next 3 days.As promised, the quote arrived in 2 days. we discussed the matter again with Mr. Elevator. we were still not sure if this is possible. Mr. Elevator was so sure that he added a 100% money-back guarantee. if by any chance Lift could not be fitted, all our money shall be returned. Mr. Elevator asked for about 60 days to get it done.So it took about 50 days of work, thoka thaki, little breakage here and there, labor going in and out of our house. At one point in time, we thought were we have got ourselves in this. Work seems to be going on. However, to our pleasant surprise little over one and a half months, we saw the first glimpse of a small Home Lift going up and down. We were eagerly waiting and finally, the day came. I was told to take a trail ride in the Lift. I just could not believe my eyes. I entered the Lift. Oh my god, it was small. I could barely fit in.My husband joked again to reduce my weight.  Anyway, I got inside the Lift and finally, I reached the terrace within seconds. This was the happiest day of my life. seeing me, My sparrows were chirping and making noises and I thanked God and Mr. Elevator.
